Cat Health - Nosodes
At Eden-Lea, I use Homeopathic Nosodes for prophylaxis (homeopathic vaccination) and also for treatment of symptoms if necessary. The Nosode in particular I use is Feline URI 30C which is for prevention of (and treatment of symptoms of) Upper Respiratory Infections, including Calici virus, Feline Herpes, Feline Infectious Enteritis/Panleucopenia, and Chlamydia.
This URI remedy is made from the vaccine itself, and imparts the energy of the diseases to help the body defend against them, but it does not have the chemical additives that are in the vaccine.
All Eden-Lea kittens are given the first daily and 4 weekly dose as suggested by Irene de Villiers, the recommended protocol can be read on her website - click here
Tips on Using Homeopathic Remedies:
With Homeopathic remedies, the idea is not for them to be swallowed, but doesn't matter if so - it just needs to contact the mucous membranes. So for example, you can drizzle it over kitty's gums when asleep, or just drop into the corner of her mouth.
I make my own remedies up as needed, from small pillules into an "aqueous solution" with no alcohol (which is used to preserve it). This way it only tastes like water and kitties don't object to it. However, this means it won't last very long. You can ask a Professional Homeopath to also make remedies up with no alcohol for you.
Care of Homeopathic Remedies:
Don't touch remedies with fingers, if using pellets - gently tap one into the lid of the vial.
Don't store in fridge. Store in a cupboard, away from light and preferably at least 1 metre from electrical appliances and wiring, computers, mobile phones etc.
And be careful where you put it when using the dropper - very easy to knock the bottle over and spill it!
