Herbs for detoxing your body naturally have become quite acceptable in recent years. And this is for a very good reason. If all your bodily functions are to perform at peak level, then they need to be clean, clear and healthy.
We accumulate toxins constantly, from the food we eat and the air we breathe, to the environment we live in. A simple detox plan can help you to regain energy, feel better and more alive, rejuvenate your skin and overall general health.
It is relatively easy to add a few herbs to your daily regime to enhance a gentle cleaning and detoxification of your body. Below I have listed a few of the time proven herbs known to have superior action within the human body, for detoxing. Taking a page from the book of traditional medicine, prevention is always much better than cure.
If you decide to add any of these detox herbs to your diet, do make sure take it slow to start off with. You do not want a fast and dramatic flush of toxins and waste from your tissues into the eliminatory systems. This can cause what is known as a “healing reaction”, a “Herxheimer reaction” or a “healing crisis” among others names. A healing reaction is usually a very good sign, as it means nasty stuff is being eliminated from your body.

However, if you are not prepared for any of this, sometimes overdoing these herbs can be a bit overwhelming for you. When detoxing is happening, you may have diarrhea, skin breakouts, headaches, bad breath, digestive gas (farts!) and other minor reactions. But honestly, there is no need to be harsh on yourself, just take it slow and easy.
Make sure your body is supported in its efforts to detox. It takes a large amount of energy to clean out toxic build up from your body. You can free lots of energy up and take some of the load off by eating a simple and natural, non-processed diet. Easier and quicker to digest food types will give your body more energy to spend on cleansing. Include plenty of fresh fruits and raw vegetables. Drink lots of good quality water to help with the effective flushing and elimination of toxins. Sometimes, if you are really in need of a good body detox, then just changing your diet to a more natural one can instigate a healing reaction. Therefore, it is a good idea to improve your diet first, prior to adding detoxing herbs to your mix.
If you get little or no exercise, consider adding a walk into your daily routine. This will increase your blood flow and stimulate your whole body to work better.
The natural herbs and fruits listed below are all acknowledged to have great effects for natural body detoxification:
Here are some Chinese herbs that are commonly used for detoxification:
Lian Qiao: Lian Qiao is the forsythia flower. It has a cleansing action and helps to clear heat and toxins.
Ju Hua: Otherwise known as the Chrysanthemum. This is a pungent herb that should not be overcooked, or it will lose its potency. It has cleansing properties.
Pu Gong Ying: Pu Gong Ying is the dandelion plant. It is the parts of the plant above the root that is being used as a remedy. It is effective as a detoxification herb.
It is important to know that the main point of detoxification is removing toxins from the body, usually through the bowels. Using herbs is gentler on your system than other methods and you get additional benefits from the nutrients that herbs supply.
Remember to add these slowly if you are not used to them, and make it easy on yourself.
Okay…I just started on a herbal detox. I am doing light exercise, just some walking. It has only been three days and already I can feel the “sludge” leaving my system. I feel so much lighter. Hopefully the weight will start to fly of me soon too.
Very nice post, I certainly love your website, keep it up OK?
Detoxing is not something I have ever thought about, but this information is really food for thought, thank you. I enjoy reading a post that will make me think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!
When you are doing a body detox it is important that people make sure to get enough water in their system. Water is the body’s principal chemical component, making up about 60 percent of the total weight. Every single system in the body depends on water. Water flushes toxins from the vital organs, it transports nutrients to the cells and it provides a moist environment for the ear, the nose and for throat tissues.
